Our nation watched in horror again this week as another American community was torn apart in a torrent of gunfire. In mere minutes, 59 innocent men and women joined the solemn ranks of American lives ended by guns. My heart breaks for Las Vegas — the victims, their families and the hundreds of wounded facing a long and difficult road to recovery.
But I am not just sad, I am furious.
The death toll is staggering and unacceptable: 30,000 every year. A mass shooting nearly every day. Congress is complicit in this mass slaughter through its incomprehensible inaction. I will not abandon the fight to make America safer and better.
