An exit interview with Andrew Mooney

The idea to marry DePaul University's basketball program with an expansion of the McCormick Place Convention Center came to outgoing Chicago Planning and Development Commissioner Andrew Mooney in the shower.

It took two phone calls and one meeting for the parties to reach a handshake.

"One of the most important roles of the commissioner of planning, is to help parties come together to get things built," Mooney said. "That's job No. 1."
