NEW HAVEN — After four years as president of Southern Connecticut State University, Mary Papazian is resigning to become president of San Jose State University.
Papazian's resignation will take effect July 1. She is the second state university president to announce departure plans this week.
"It's bittersweet," Papazian, 56, said of her decision. "This was just one of those opportunities that came along that was just right."
In a note to the Southern community, Papazian wrote that she "fell in love with the students, the campus, and the incredibly dedicated faculty and staff" at Southern, but "a new challenge has arisen in my home...
