Connecticut is unlikely to be vulnerable to the kind of lawsuit filed by the Justice Department in California this week over that state’s immigration laws, according to Connecticut leaders and immigration experts.
“What we do in Connecticut is totally legal,” Gov. Dannel P. Malloy said Wednesday. “We are compliant with the law, but we’re also very protective of individuals in our state, we want to make sure that due process is applied and our biggest worry is forcing people underground so that we can’t prosecute offenses or they become endangered.
“I don’t know enough about California’s regulations to make a judgment but I know where we stand.”
