Quinnipiac has hired former New Haven police Chief Dean Esserman to examine the school's emergency response plan, officials said Monday.
"Dean Esserman came aboard today as a senior professional-in-residence for emergency management response," said Vice President for Public Affairs Lynn Bushnell in a statement. "He will examine the university's emergency response plans to make sure we're using the best practices to keep the university community as safe as possible."
Esserman, credited as one of the police officials behind the city's community policing initiative in the 1990s, had resigned earlier this month.
