New Haven Police Chief Out On Sick Leave

NEW HAVEN — The city's police chief, now off of paid leave, was out on temporary sick leave as of Monday, according to a statement from the mayor.

Mayor Toni Harp put Chief Dean Esserman on paid leave on Tuesday, July 26, after reports of his conduct surfaced.

The New Haven Independent reported that there was an incident involving the chief at Archie Moore's recently in which it was alleged that Esserman berated a waitress.
