Despite calls for Timothy Stewart to resign as head of the chamber of commerce, his job is secure, the organization’s board said.
Stewart apologized this week for writing on Facebook that “the inmates continue to run the neighborhood,” a remark that angered North Oak residents and several Democratic legislators and city officials.
But Stewart has given no indication that he plans to step down, and the chamber board concluded he’ll be staying.
“Tim Stewart has been a tremendous advocate for the entire city of New Britain during his tenure as president of the Greater New Britain Chamber,” board Chairman Gennaro Bizzarro said in a statement.
