Lawmakers: New Britain On Course For Hefty State Grants

NEW BRITAIN — The city's legislative delegation announced Monday that it anticipates the state will award nearly $1.7 million this week to help upgrade local schools.

The state is also going to provide about $70,000 to improve the New Britain Arts Alliance facility, legislators said.

The State Bond Commission's agenda for its meeting Friday includes funding for low-performing school systems to make building improvements. Most of the 24 districts receiving money are poor.
