Obama targets Africa's youth bulge as key to continent's future

WASHINGTON President Barack Obama arrives in Kenya on Friday to promote the economic prospects of Africa, a continent approaching a tipping point of prosperity or instability. Underlying sub-Saharan Africa's 5 percent growth rate is a melange of weak governments, entrenched corruption and threats from militant groups such as Boko Haram. That combination has made the region a priority for U.S. intelligence agencies.
