New Chicago Community Trust CEO will face shifting philanthropic environment

For the first time in 13 years the venerable Chicago Community Trust will start looking for a new leader. Longtime CEO Terry Mazany recently announced plans to step down.

Mazany leaves the nonprofit in strong financial shape and with an impressive record of local philanthropic fundraising and giving, key areas that grew and improved during his tenure. He is scheduled to resign in September.

Going forward, whoever succeeds Mazany — a search will soon be underway — also will face a daunting challenge: Quickly connecting the 102-year-old trust with the area's next generation of business leaders and nonprofit backers.
