Lawmakers Reject Deal To Reduce Federal Oversight Of DCF

Legislators on Monday rejected a proposal that would have reduced federal oversight of the Department of Children and Families in exchange for shielding its $802 million budget from cuts for at least two years.

Even with the possibility of emerging sooner from the shadow of the court, the lawmakers on the Appropriations Committee balked at ceding control over the sprawling agency's funding.
