Connecticut Senate Codifies Women's Health Provisions of Affordable Care Act in State Law

Citing uncertainty in Washington over the fate of the Affordable Care Act, the Connecticut Senate early Friday unanimously voted to enshrine the women's and children's health provisions into state law.

The bill seeks to ensure that requirements of the health care act remain in place in Connecticut, even if President Trump and Republicans in Congress successfully roll back the landmark law.

"Women in Connecticut will know they will continue to receive the protections that are available under the ACA,'' said Sen. Mae Flexer, D-Killingly. She cited coverage for contraception, osteoporosis screening, mammograms and breast-feeding supplies, among other benefits.
