Lawmakers Approve Letting Community College Police Officers Carry Guns

HARTFORD — Police officers at the state's 12 community colleges would be permitted to carry guns under a bill that cleared the House of Representatives Wednesday.

The measure, approved 129 to 21, requires approval by the Board of Regents for Higher Education. It had already passed in the Senate.

It has the backing of Mark E. Ojakian, president of the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities system.
