Glassman Ready To Start New Chapter After 16 Years As Simsbury First Selectman

SIMSBURY — Looking back on her 16 years in office, Mary Glassman sees her long service as the town's first selectman as one of life's biggest accidents. "It's kind of ironic; I came in as an accidental politician and I'm leaving in an unusual way," said Glassman, who will resign her position Jan. 2 in protest over the Republican-controlled board of selectmen's decision to cut her pay by 35 percent in July.
