Aldermen call for Burge reparations fund

Two Chicago aldermen called Wednesday for the city to put up $20 million to help onetime crime suspects who were tortured by disgraced former police Cmdr. Jon Burge but have otherwise been unable to win compensation. Alds. Howard Brookins, 21st, and Proco “Joe” Moreno, 1st, said the money would be used to help torture victims who weren’t able to get city settlements through the courts because of expired statutes of limitation or other legal vagaries.
