Chief of staff to retire from housing authority in January

Joe Johnson, chief of staff for the Housing Authority of the City of Annapolis and the agency's second-in-command, says he will retire in January. Johnson, 71, joined the housing authority in 2010 as interim director of the agency. He became chief of staff after Vince Leggett was hired as executive director. As chief of staff, Johnson is responsible for the agency's day-to-day operations, facility maintenance and community safety. "I've carried this burden long enough," Johnson said.
