Emanuel touts graffiti removal efficiency

Mayor Rahm Emanuel says city crews are removing graffiti at a faster rate because of changes in how they operate. From June through early August, city graffiti crews responded to resident requests for removal in under four days on average, compared with more than six days on average over the same period in 2011, before a new grid system was instituted. Emanuel's analysis took into account only how quickly the city responded to residents' requests for graffiti removal made to the city's 311 system, and did not include how quickly crews responded to the many more graffiti calls from aldermen or city workers.
