Every April, Bobby Phelps reminds his older brother John that he should start filling out Bobby's application to attend Manchester's Camp Kennedy, which starts in August.
Bobby Phelps, who is 61, was one of the original Camp Kennedy campers in 1964. Fifty years later, he is just as excited about attending as he was when he was 11.
Camp Kennedy was founded in 1964 as a camp for adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities with a $3,000 grant from the Joseph P. Kennedy Jr. Foundation and matching funds from the town.
The town will celebrate the camp's 50th anniversary on Aug. 15 with a ceremony at the camp at 1 p.m.
