Connecticut Democrats Divided Over Party's Nominating Rule Changes For President

The Democratic fracture of 2016 — when an overwhelming majority of Connecticut’s superdelegates committed to Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders months before the first primary votes were cast — still isn’t fully healed.

State party leaders are divided over sweeping rules changes, approved this weekend at a Democratic National Committee meeting in Chicago, that will dramatically reduce the power of superdelegates in the 2020 presidential election.

The special status is traditionally reserved for party officers, the governor and congressional delegation members.
