Local Officials Concerned About School Funding Cuts

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy's pledge of a new formula to fund public education has left many local leaders uneasy as they prepare to craft their budgets for the coming year.

Malloy promised to provide "more equitable" aid to municipalities and signaled that more resources would be directed to the state's neediest communities. But some city and town officials fear the shift could force them to shed schools staff or raise taxes.
