Wanda E. Matelski, 90, of Boyne Falls, died Friday, Sept. 16, 2011, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Wanda was born on Sept. 25, 1920, the daughter of Michael and Bernice (Sajk) Fumanek in Standish.
Wanda was very active in the St. Augustine Catholic Church by being president of the Altar Guild and doing all of the funeral luncheons and whatever she could do for her church. She also was active in the choir and was always asked to sing certain songs in Polish. She enjoyed ice skating, bowling, cross country skiing and traveling with her husband to France, Germany and Alaska.
Wanda is survived by her husband, Walter; two sons, Thomas Parker of Grand Rapids, James Parker of Georgia; one sister, Sophia Podufaly of Boyne Falls; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her first husband and her son, Carl Parker.
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, at St. Augustine Church in Boyne Falls with the reciting of the rosary at 7:30 p.m.
Mass will be celebrated for Wanda at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, at the church with the Rev. Duane Wachowiak serving as celebrant. Interment will take place at St. Augustine Cemetery.
The family requests memorial donations be directed to the St. Augustine Church Altar Guild or to Mass Intentions.
