A Boyne City woman and a 6-year-old girl narrowly avoided significant injuries Wednesday when swerving to miss a deer during a single vehicle accident in Wilson Township.
According to a Charlevoix County Sheriff’s Office release, Patricia Henning, 80, was traveling southbound on Pearsall Road, just south of Boyne City-East Jordan Road, when she swerved to miss a deer in the roadway causing her to lose control of her vehicle. She left the roadway to the right, struck a driveway culvert, and spun around 180 degrees before coming to rest on the side of an embankment.
back pain from the incident. Also in the vehicle was a 6-year-old female from Illinois. Both were transported to Charlevoix Area Hospital for treatment of their injuries.
Alcohol was not a factor of the crash. Both occupants were wearing their safety belts.
Besides the Charlevoix County Sheriff’s Office, the East Jordan Fire Department and EMS also responded to the scene.
