Ten Jewish women everyone should know

Temple B'nai Israel member Sandy LaLonde will discuss "Ten Jewish Women Everyone Should Know," a recent article by Rabbi Laura Geller, at the next Rosh Chodesh gathering, 2 p.m. Saturday, June 9, in the temple social hall in Petoskey.

"Women have always played a vital role in Jewish history and in our individual and family lives," explains Carol Ellstein, temple Mishpacha chair.

Sally Cannon, temple president notes, "The Talmud tells us, 'We were redeemed from Egypt because of the righteousness of the women of that generation.' I think that resonates for women today."

We will also get to know one another a little better by sharing parts of our own histories. Please bring a picture or personal object relating to a woman who has had an impact on your life, along with a potluck snack. For more information and to RSVP, call Pam Ovshinsky, Rosh Chodesh coordinator, at (231) 622-8611.

Rosh Chodesh is the celebration of the new moon, central to the Jewish calendar and to women. Temple B'nai Israel is a member of the Union for Reform Judaism and is celebrating 101 years in its sanctuary in downtown Petoskey and 116 years of continuous service to Petoskey and surrounding areas.
