PETOSKEY -- The Big Boy restaurant on Spring Street in Petoskey will be closing later this weekend, with plans to open about six weeks later in a new building nearby.
Brian Ludlow, a landowner involved in redeveloping the Big Boy site and neighboring properties, said Sunday, Sept. 16, will be Big Boy's last day of business in its current location.
The new building will include spaces for retail businesses along with the Big Boy.
Hu Nan Chinese Restaurant, located immediately north of Big Boy, recently closed as well, Ludlow noted. The building that housed it also is targeted for demolition.
Plans call for a new McDonald's restaurant to be built in that area in the future.
