For the past eigh
t years, Crooked Tree Arts Center School of Ballet students have been accepted to and attended the country's finest summer intensive programs. This year is no exception with nine of Crooked Tree's pre-professional ballet students anticipating their summer and fall plans.
Audition season began in January with weekly caravans to Chicago and recently concluded with the annual audition at Crooked Tree with Deeply Rooted Dance Theater's artistic director, Kevin Iega Jeff.
"Our dance program continues to grow. With the School of Ballet now at the new studio we have added a variety of other types of dance at the arts center," said Liz Ahrens, executive director.
"Under Heather's outstanding and inspirational leadership our School of Ballet has garnered national attention which has provided our young dancers with fabulous summer opportunities."
While some dancers are offered scholarships directly from the programs that have selected them, not all dancers and not all of the costs are subsidized. The Crooked Tree Arts Center Dance Scholarship Fund was created to assist local dancers with the financing of tuition and housing. Proceeds from Dance the Halls in December as well as other dance performances contribute to the fund. Individual gifts can be made year-round.
