Mary Ann Smith, 93, of Charlevoix, passed away Friday, June 7, 2013, at Boulder Park Terrace Nursing Home in Charlevoix.
She was born Feb. 23, 1920, in Chestonia, the daughter of Frank and Anna (Hejhal) Lilak.
On March 10, 1942, she married Carlton H. Smith of Charlevoix in Ayer, Mass. They made their home in Charlevoix where Mary Ann worked for the Michigan Department of Social Services as a secretary for 30 years.
She was a member of the Charlevoix United Methodist Church and Retired Employees of the State of Michigan.
She is survived by her children, Carlton H. "Mick" Smith II and Donald (Pamela) Smith, all of Charlevoix, Jeanne K. (Gary) Hice of Petoskey; grandchildren, Ryan, Jason, Lindsay and Lauren; great-grandchildren, Kai, Wyland and Addison; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlton, on Jan. 9, 2000; and brothers, Francis and Joseph Lilak.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, at the Charlevoix United Methodist Church, where visitation will begin at 10 a.m. The Rev. Greg Culver will officiate. Burial will be in Barnard Cemetery in Charlevoix.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Charlevoix United Methodist Church or to the charity of choice.
