Lula Belle DeArce, 72, of Mackinac Island, passed away Friday evening, Sept. 7, 2012, at Mackinac Island Medical Center following a lingering illness.
She was born on Mackinac Island on Aug. 21, 1940, to Louis Darcy and Marion Bernice (Lozon) Bunker.
She was a woman of strong faith, and spent the last several years with her son, Duane, living with her and giving her special loving care required because of her health problems.
She is survived by her sons, Wayne Drost of Charlevoix, Duane Drost of Mackinac Island, and Robert Green Jr. of Seattle, Wash.; daughter, Tammy May of Charlevoix; brothers, Louis (Angie) Bunker of St. Ignace, Ike (Elaine) Bunker and Tom Bunker, all of Mackinac Island; sisters, Helen (Roger) Dixon of Rockford, Ill., Irene (Larry) Rickley of Mackinac Island, and Alice (Frank) Bloswick of Mackinac Island; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Victor DeArce, in 2010.
A gathering will take place from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., with lunch served, on Saturday, Sept. 15, at the Mackinac Island Community Center. Cremation has taken place.
Dodson Funeral Home in St. Ignace assisted the family with arrangements.
