Julie Ann Elzinga-King, 40, of East Jordan, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at McLaren Northern Michigan hospital in Petoskey.
She was born on March 3, 1972, in Petoskey, the daughter of Thomas Sr. and Veronica (House) Elzinga.
She enjoyed hunting. She was the woman's state champion for white tail deer in Michigan for the year of 2002.
Julie is survived by her loving husband, Donald King Jr., of East Jordan; two children, Ashley Elzinga of Big Rapids and Clifford John Monkman IV of East Jordan; one grandson, Clifford Monkman V, of East Jordan; three stepchildren; Bruce King of Traverse City, Anna Taylor of Petoskey and Brandon Taylor of East Jordan; two stepgrandchildren, Damyian and Caydence Taylor, both of Petoskey; her mother, Veronica Elzinga, of Silver Springs, Fla.; one brother, Dan Elzinga, of Silver Springs, Fla.; one niece, Stephanie Elzinga, of New York; and one nephew, Joshua Elzinga, of New York. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Elzinga Sr., and brother, Thomas Elzinga Jr.
A memorial service will take place at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Lighthouse Missionary Church in East Jordan with the Rev. James L. Jordan officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the church.
