Josephine "Joedy" M. Hall, 88, of Harbor Springs died April 27, 2013, at her residence at Perry Farm Village.
Funeral services for Joedy will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 2, at the First Presbyterian Church in Harbor Springs.
Joedy was born April 9, 1925, in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Joseph and Florence (Wiley) Meriam.
She grew up in Cleveland and attended Hathaway Brown School where she was a junior national figure skater.
She then went on to Bradford Jr. College and Case Western University where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree.
On Oct. 19, 1946, she married Hiland Hall in Cleveland where they made their home until 1959 when they moved to New Canaan, Conn. While in Connecticut Joedy became very accomplished in decoupage and was a long time member of the New Canaan Sewing Group. She was also a member of the New Canaan Country Club, active in the American Red Cross and New Canaan Boys Hockey Association.
In 1979 Joedy and Hiland moved to Harbor Springs living on Harbor Point. She was very active in the Hospice of Little Traverse Bay, Northern Michigan Hospital Foundation, and University Club of Harbor Springs. She was also a member of the Harbor Point Golf Club. Joedy was also a devout Christian.
Joedy is survived by her children: Hiland M. Hall (Candace) of Deer Isle, Maine, Peter W. Hall (Patti) of Lake Forest, Ill., Susan H. Horn (Paul) of St. Louis, Mo., Jeffrey W. Hall (Cindy) of Harbor Springs, Michael J. Hall (Elizabeth) of Traverse City, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Joedy was preceded in death by her husband, Hiland, on June 16, 2004.
Joedy always said if she had to live her life again, she would live it exactly the same.
Contributions in memory of Joedy may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Harbor Springs or Hiland Cottage. Envelopes will be available at Schiller Funeral Home where visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1.
