"This exhibition is for members, both long-term and new, whose work we feel the community should be aware of," said curator Howard Ellis. "Each artist is requested to submit two works which they have not shown before. This allows the viewers to see the changes the artists have made over the last year. It is often amazing to see the new directions people have gone."
Two long-time members of the Jordan River Arts Council, Charlevoix artists Meredith Krell and Steve Toornman, are being honored this year for the many volunteer hours they have given to set up shows. Their work has been in many Jordan River Art Center shows as well as other art centers and galleries; Toornman's work was accepted in ArtPrize 2011 in Grand Rapids.
The gallery is open from 1-4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, June 30 to July 19.
