More than a grocery store, Toski Sands offers its customers more than meat, seafood market, wine and spirits, produce, specialty groceries, domestic and imported cheeses and a complete deli.
For the past two years it has provided Northern Michigan residents and visitors with the perfect excuse not to prepare dinner.
The dinners are a collaboration between Toski Sands co-owner, Sue McLaughlin, and chef Reed Galvin.
“We make it (dinner) convenient,” said Galvin. “We do have our own fan base — a following. We make comfort foods — pasta, meatloaf.”
The tomato basil pasta dinner with Italian meatballs includes (to serve 4-6) one quart of house-made Cabernet basil pasta sauce, house-made Italian meatballs, one pound of pasta and one loaf of house-made cheesy garlic bread. This dinner is less than $22; for an additional $6, you can include enough Italian salad to complete the meal.
Galvin says they make portions for singles, or to feed larger families or for dinner parties.
“You can call us and we’ll have your bag ready,” said Galvin. He added that the store will also provide needed grocery items, ready to pick up. “Just call us.”
Toski Sands offers an array of ready-to-heat entrees — rotisserie chicken, stuffed pepper, stuffed flank steak and more. It sources many foodstuffs locally and its staff can help with wine pairings as well.
