Dolores (Frye) Martin, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on June 20, 2013, in Oviedo, Fla., of complications from Alzheimer's dementia.
She was born in Petoskey on Aug. 3, 1928, to Frank and Marion Frye and had three siblings. After growing up in Chicago, she lived in Flat Rock, Mich., with her husband and three sons until retiring to Florida in 1992.
Korean War Veterans Association and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a student of history and enjoyed researching genealogy, but always put her family before anything else.
Dolores and her husband spent the hot Florida summers at their farmhouse in Alanson, where they were often joined by family and friends. She will be remembered as a special woman who touched many lives with love, kindness and generosity.
Her husband of 57 years, Harry Martin, preceded her in death in 2009, also of complications from Alzheimer's dementia.
She is survived by three sons, Jon (Deborah) Martin of Westland, Mich., Jeffrey Martin of Oviedo, Fla., and James (Rhonda Anderson) Martin of McKinney, Texas; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are being handled by Stone Funeral Home in Petoskey with burial in Greenwood Cemetery in Petoskey.
