BAY VIEW -- Children's author John Klassen, winner of the 2013 Caldecott Medal, will be the guest at a special children's event hosted by McLean & Eakin, Booksellers in Petoskey from 9 a.m.-noon Wednesday, July 17, in Hall auditorium in Bay View.
The Caldcott is awarded annually to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children.
New York Times Book Review Best Illustrated Children's Book of the Year, "I Want My Hat Back."
He is also the illustrator of Caroline Stutson's "Cats' Night Out," winner of the prestigious Governor General's Award for Illustration. Klassen is the author of "This is Not My Hat" and illustrator of "Extra Yarn and The Dark." He has worked as an illustrator for feature animated films, music videos and editorial pieces. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, he grew up in Niagara Falls, Ontario, and now lives in Los Angeles.
