Volleyball

The Volleyball House in Elkridge is hosting spring camps on April 21 and April 24. Camps are from 12 to 5 p.m. Participants must be ages 9-18. The cost is $60 for one game, and $100 for both. Contact Jkvolleyball.com for more info.

Football/Cheerleading

Registration is now open for fall football and cheer for the Ellicott City Patriots. Registration is open for ages 5-14 for tackle, cheer and poms through Howard County Rec and Parks, or at ecpatriots.com. Soccer

Soccer Association of Columbia is now registering players for the Spring Break Camp scheduled for the week of April 14-18. Both full and half-day sessions are offered. Golf

The First Tee of Howard County announces three new sites for its program, which be offering PLAYer classes for students age 7-9: April 24, 5 p.m. at Waverly Woods Golf Course; April 28, 5 p.m. at Hobbits Glen Golf Course; April 29, 5 p.m. at Timbers at Troy Golf Course. The classes go for eight weeks and are an hour and a half long. Clubs are provided, if necessary. Register online at thefirstteehowardcounty.org.

The Timbers at Troy Ladies Golf League will hold an organizational meeting on March 27 at 9 a.m. at the Timbers clubhouse, 6100 Marshalee Drive in Elkridge. This is a Thursday morning, 18-hole league, open to ladies with an established USGA handicap or who have played enough to establish a handicap. Running

The Maryland State's Attorneys' Association will present the inaugural 7k Run to Remember at Centennial Park in Howard County April 5, 2014. The race will benefit the Maryland Network against Domestic Violence. Registration will close April 2. To register, log onto active.com and type "7k Run to Remember" in the search box at the top of the home page.

There are several other races on the upcoming schedule as well. They are: Queen Anne's 5k Trail Run to end Kennedy's Disease at Western Regional Park on April 6; Help a Child in Need Charity 5k trail run at Rockburn Branch Park on April 12; Hope for the Homeless 5k trail run at Rockburn Branch Park on May 3; Wine in the Woods 5k at Centennial Lake on May 10; Rotary Club of Columbia Remembrance Run 5k in Columbia on May 26. The Howard County Junior Striders Spring youth running programs registration is open on the youth page of the bullseyerunning.com web site. Join the track team program if planning to attend the track meets. The schedule is on the web site, and practices start March 24. Join the running program if not planning to attend the meets. Those practices start April 3.

Cycling

Registration is open for the Seventh Annual 24 Hours of Booty Columbia that will kick off Aug. 23 at 2 p.m. Participants must register online at 24hoursofbooty.org. Funds raised from the event will help benefit the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults and Livestrong Foundation. Registration fee is $45, and participants must raise a minimum of $200 prior to the ride.
