The Western Howard County Fever 2K took second place in the 12U division of the North Carroll Hotshots Early Bird invitational April 13-14. The team went 2-1 in pool play, then defeated the Crofton Rebels and the Littlestown Thunder, 13-1 and 13-4, in the elimination round.

Strong pitching from Amanda Tossman (2-0), Kaylee Paterson (2-0, no-hitter) and Rachel Jacavage helped fuel the fire.

The Fever 2K amassed 63 runs over six games. In the finals they fell to a tough Freedom Firebirds squad.


At the USA Gymnastics Regional Championship, held at Ursinus College April 14, Madision Briel (River Hill) finished second in the Level 9 All-Around competition. Her score of 36.575 was strong enough to qualify for the National Championship. Maddy competes for Hills Gymnastics in Gaithersburg and is coached by Amy Martelli.

The Top Flight Boys Optional Teams competed in the Men's Optional Regional Championship. Top three finishers:

Level 9 (Age 14): S. Penn - 2. Parallel Bars.

Level 10 (15): M. Lober - 2. Vault.

The following Top Flight gymnasts qualified to compete in the 2013 Men's Junior Olympic National Championships in Oregon April 30-May 5:

The USAG Girls Teams at Top Flight Gymnastics competed at the April Fools Invitational. The Level 5 team finished first.
