The 2012 International Energy Conservation Code, as adopted by Harford County, takes effect July 1. To help provide better understanding of the concepts of the code, the Harford County Department of Inspections, Licenses and Permits is hosting a seminar on the fundamentals of the 2012 International Energy Conservation Code.

The seminar will be held Friday, May 25 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Harford County Council Chambers, 212 S. Bond St. in Bel Air.

The seminar will help participants better understand and apply the critical concepts of the 2012 International Energy Conservation Code. These concepts provide a basis for the correct use of the code in design, plan review, inspection and analysis of projects. The seminar will also help provide a clear understanding and correct use of the requirements identified by the basic code provisions, tables and categorizations.

Participants will apply the code in clear-cut situations and build an understanding of the intent of the code when asked to make code compliance decisions.

The seminar is eligible for .6 CEU's/6 contact hours and is registered with the AIA/CES for continuing professional education.

The first 75 people to register will receive a free training manual. Additional manuals will be available for purchase for $30 each. Those planning to attend should register by May 18 at http://www.harfordcountymd.gov/IECC.
