Chevrolet Malibu

May 24, 2012

This new 2013 Chevrolet Malibu is very comfortable and thanks to its eAssist drivetrain, it's also economical.

  • Acura RDX

    May 16, 2012

The new 2013 Acura RDX seemed large when sitting in our garage. I called it a big bruiser at first, but it didn't seem all that big once I began driving it.

  • Mini Cooper Coupe

    May 10, 2012

I drove the 2012 Mini Cooper S Coupe; Jim got to drive the more powerful John Cooper Works version. But we both agree the Cooper S should be plenty powerful.

  • Porsche 911 Carrera S

    May 3, 2012

There's a lot to like about the redesigned Porsche 911 Carrera S. Perhaps the most important factor is this: It still looks like a Porsche, which is to say that the lines and proportions are as beautiful today as they were 50 years ago.

  • Buick Verano

    April 26, 2012

Our 2012 Buick Verano scores high on the gizmo scale. Equipped with the Leather Group, our Verano had push button start and keyless access.

  • Volvo XC60

    April 18, 2012

At first glance, the 2012 Volvo XC60 might seem like the perfect vehicle for a new driver. The lane departure and distance warning systems worked perfectly.

  • Nissan Murano

    April 11, 2012

The 2012 Nissan Murano SL drives very nicely, but that wasn't its most endearing virtue. For me, it was its cargo handling abilities that stood out.

  • 2013 Lexus GS 350

    April 5, 2012

The 2013 Lexus GS 350 ventures into fun-to-drive territory. The car is still very comfortable. The ride may be slightly firmer than I expected, but it's still a luxurious way to get around town.

  • 2012 Infiniti FX50S

    March 29, 2012

I get it. The 2012 Infiniti FX50S is powerful. But thanks to a sensitive gas pedal, it's also a little difficult to drive smoothly without practice.

  • 2012 Ford Explorer

    March 21, 2012

We had a chance to review the new Ford Explorer last year, just as it was becoming available at area dealers. So, why did Ford want to get us the 2012 Ford Explorer? To show off the simplified MyFord Touch system, that's why.

  • Audi Q5

    March 14, 2012

As is the case with many new cars, the 2012 Audi Q5 has chosen its own path when it comes to the interior controls and the results weren't always to my liking.

  • Volvo S60 T6 R-Design

    March 7, 2012

    There's a lot to like in this new 2012 Volvo S60 T6 R-Design.

  • Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid

    February 29, 2012

I quickly concluded that the 2012 Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid, though undeniably gorgeous, is much more car than anyone really needs.

  • Chevrolet Sonic

    February 22, 2012

This 2012 Chevrolet Sonic initially fooled me into thinking it was a two-door coupe.

  • Jeep Grand Cherokee

    February 15, 2012

When I first struggled to get into the passenger seat of this 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, I thought that this was just one more SUV that's too tall for me. Then Jim remembered to lower the adjustable suspension system, which involves just the quick push of a button.

  • Toyota Camry

    February 8, 2012

With the exception of the radio, which tends to be fussy, this 2012 Toyota Camry is amazingly simple and pleasant to use.

  • Buick LaCrosse

    February 1, 2012

We picked up this 2012 Buick LaCrosse in downtown Boston, and then drove it back to Hartford late in the evening. As a passenger during this trip, I can tell you that few cars match, much less exceed, this Buick¿s comfort.

  • Range Rover Evoque

    January 25, 2012

We didn't have the 2012 Range Rover Evoque for the October snowstorm, but we did have it for the January 12 snowfall that upset travelers in the northern sections of the state. It performed perfectly.

  • Ford F-150

    January 18, 2012

I've known women who love driving a full-size pickup truck, such as this Ford F-150, on a daily basis. I salute them.

  • Chrysler 300

    January 11, 2012

I'm generally not a fan of big cars, and even though the 2012 Chrysler 300 is big, I liked it. The instrument panel is very pretty with its blue backlighting of the gauges.

  • Volkswagen Beetle

    January 4, 2012

When thinking about the 2012 Volkswagen Beetle, I couldn't help but remember the original yellow New Beetle we had for review. It stayed with us for a week, just before the car arrived at area dealers, and the response from onlookers was overwhelming.

  • Mercedes-Benz S350 BlueTEC Diesel

    December 28, 2011

I developed mixed emotions while driving the 2012 Mercedes-Benz S350 BlueTEC diesel. I loved the luxury- who wouldn't?

  • Hyundai Accent

    December 21, 2011

The interior of the 2012 Hyundai Accent seems entirely out of place in a car with a $16,000 price tag. Granted, there's lots of plastic, but it looks very good. Add in upholstery that doesn't scream "cheap" and a variety of standard features, and the Accent scores high on the value meter.

  • Dodge Charger

    December 15, 2011

This 2012 Dodge Charger is big. It filled our garage and was wide enough to prompt me to check twice before backing out. I'd hate to clip one of the outside mirrors on the side of the garage door opening.

  • Range Rover Sport

    December 7, 2011

Driving the 2012 Range Rover Sport is a very pleasant experience. Despite this vehicle¿s size, driving around town, even in heavy traffic, is a breeze

  • Honda Civic HF and Natural Gas

    November 30, 2011

I really like the two-tier instrument panel that Honda used in the Civic HF and Civic Natural Gas.

  • Hyundai Genesis

    November 23, 2011

The Hyundai Genesis is definitely a luxury car of the first order. It was love at first sight. The white satin pearl paint is beautiful.

  • Volkswagen Passat

    November 17, 2011

The new Volkswagen Passat is a very nice car. It's well behaved on the open road and has a good steering feel.

  • Audi A6

    November 9, 2011

Jim said I would be impressed by the Audi A6's navigation system. Blown away would be a better description after seeing actual photos of the route I was driving.

  • BMW 650i

    November 2, 2011

The BMW 650i convertible is big and solid, yet fun to drive. It has ample power, surging ahead with just a soft touch to the accelerator.

  • Fiat 500c

    October 26, 2011

I was smitten from the moment I saw the Fiat 500c. It was both cute and stylish. It's pretty, soft green paint was complemented perfectly by the tan convertible top. It may be small, but its style knows few bounds.

  • Honda Pilot

    October 19, 2011

Despite being classified as a midsize crossover utility vehicle, the Honda Pilot is actually quite large. It sits high, too, which does wonders for the view ahead, but can complicate getting in and out.

  • Mazda5

    October 12, 2011

I¿ll admit I¿m spoiled. I got into the Mazda5 and immediately noticed what it didn¿t have. No rearview camera. No push to start button. I actually had to twist the key

  • Honda Civic

    October 5, 2011

I really liked the Honda Civic. It was fun to drive and, for this five-footer, it was exceptionally roomy without being overwhelming.

  • Infiniti M56

    September 28, 2011

The Infiniti M56 was filled with gadgetry. I¿m usually put off by all of the functions and complexity, but here it works, as much of it requires just a simple push or two of a button.

  • Chrysler 200 Convertible

    September 21, 2011

Jim isn¿t smitten with the appearance of the new Chrysler 200 convertible. I, on the other hand, along with others who saw it for the first time, think it¿s nice looking.

  • Hyundai Equus

    September 14, 2011

I have little to complain about the Hyundai Equus. I liked its comfort, the easy adjustability of the seats and steering wheel, the car¿s power and silence while cruising on the highway.

  • Nissan Leaf

    September 7, 2011

I first saw the Nissan Leaf in our garage, with the charging cord connected, when I arrived home from work. I thought it was cute. Later, after it was charged, I discovered it¿s also easy to drive. It¿s both comfortable and quiet.

  • Volkswagen EOS

    August 31, 2011

    By Paula McPherson

  • Mini Countryman

    August 25, 2011

Driving this Mini is fun. It shifts and steers easily and it is certainly responsive when the driver stomps on the gas pedal. The ride is a little brittle, though, and noise levels on the highway are higher than I would have expected after seeing the price.

  • The Lotus Evora is Easy and Fun to Drive

    August 17, 2011

This Lotus Evora might be small and trim, but that's about the only thing it and I have in common.

  • Toyota Highlander

    August 3, 2011

You can tell Toyota Highlander designers worked hard on the details. The instruments are clear and easy to read.

  • Ford Fiesta

    July 27, 2011

    Paula Says

  • 2012 Acura TL

    July 20, 2011

Much of what I thought after driving the Acura TL involved the word ¿very.¿ The car was very smooth, very quick and very comfortable.

  • Toyota Avalon

    July 13, 2011

I enjoyed driving the Toyota Avalon, despite its size, and when Jim asked me to guess the price, I was a bit high. I guessed $50,000; the review car lists for just over $35,000.

  • Ford F-350

    July 6, 2011

I found the Ford F-350 to be big and intimidating, though once behind the wheel, it drove easily enough. Still this is a lot of truck. Just getting in and out is a daunting task.

  • Infiniti EX35

    June 30, 2011

The back seat is cramped, even for a shorter passenger. As for shorter drivers, the outside mirror creates a large blind spot.

  • Mercedes-Benz CL550

    June 22, 2011

Jim put me in the CL550 cold turkey, with no training on the extensive gadgetry. Don¿t ever do that.

  • Honda Civic Hybrid

    June 14, 2011

I liked just about everything about this Honda Civic Hybrid. I liked the two-tier instrument panel with the speedometer, fuel gauge and warning lights mounted high at the top.

  • Range Rover

    June 7, 2011

I am immediately suspicious of a vehicle that makes me work as hard as the Range Rover does getting in and out. The Range Rover is a tall truck and getting in takes one large step up.
