It's Cruisin' Season

While early patches of warm weather have made it feel at times like summer is here, we’ve still got more than a month until the seasons change. Regardless, car show season is well underway, and with it comes the return of our weekly calendar in “On The Road.”

Below we’ve listed the cruise nights and car shows scheduled for this month. We’d like to hear from you as we compile a weekly calendar of events, so please email your special programs to otr@courant.com.

Friday, May 4: Torrington McDonald’s Cruise Night - This runs every Friday through Sept. 28. 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. 693 Main St. (K-Mart Plaza). 860-309-9019 for more information.

Saturday, May 5: RW’s BBQ Summer Time Car Cruise Series - Come to RW’s BBQ in Brookfield for hot rods, muscle cars, Southern-style BBQ, mini golf, and live music. Cruise nights are every Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. 525-579 Federal Rd., Brookfield. 203-885-0588, rwsbarbeque@comcast.net.

Saturday, May 5: Bristol Auto Club Saturday Cruise Night - This marks the season debut of this cruise, which will run (weather permitting) through Oct. 6. Admission is free, and there will be raffle prizes, oldies music, and a hula hoop contest for kids. 5 to 8;30 p.m. The Bristol Farms Plaza, 1235 Farmington Ave. (Rt. 6), Bristol.  www.bristolautoclub.com.

Monday, May 7: Mark’s Classic Car Cruise - Founded in 1995, Mark’s Classic Cruise claims to be the largest weekly cruise night in New England, opening May 7 and running until September, weather permitting. Food and non-alcoholic beverages are available. 5 to 9 p.m. 22 Russell Rd., off Rt. 20, East Granby. 860-653-2551, www.markscruisenight.com.

Saturday, May 12:  Saturday Nite Cruizers of Wallingford - Come out every second and fourth Saturday of the month to enjoy cars, a raffle, and giveaways. There is no cruise Memorial Day weekend and no rain dates. 5:30 to 9 p.m. Duchess Restaurant, 124 Church St. (Rt. 68), Wallingford. 203-980-8343, 860-919-8514.

Saturday, May 19: Crusin’ Blue Back Square - Presented by the Connecticut Street Legends and Blue Back Square, this cruise event has parking for more than 200 show cars. Street Rods, antiques, classic, custom, and muscle cars are all welcome. Cut off year is 1987.
