Chevy Volt Joining NYPD

By Nate Owen

Those looking to dodge parking tickets in New York city will soon have a silent stalker. According to CNN, via Cars.com, the New York government recently purchased 70 new electric vehicles, including a squad of Chevy Volts to patrol  New York city's meters.

The Volts will be limited strictly to  parking ticket duties.  I've seen meter-enforcers in other countries cruise around in what pretty much amount to glorified golf carts, but this is the first I've heard of smaller cars being used for that duty in America.

While they won't be engaged in any high speed chases, the environmentally and gasoline friendly Volt is certainly a dramatic change of pace from classic police vehicles such as the Mustang Interceptor.
