An Orlando man was jailed this week on charges he beat and trapped a woman, forcing her to jump out of a window to escape Wednesday.
Rochelle Heard told police Theodore Roosevelt Hampton, 40, trapped her inside his bedroom at 536 Washington St.
Heard was staying with Hampton since Saturday but wanted to leave after he "started to act weird," according to an Orlando Police Department arrest report.
When she attempted to leave, Hampton started punching Heard in the stomach and blocked her from leaving the room, the report said.
Heard screamed for help, asking other residents in the building to call police, she told cops.
Another resident, Wendy Duncan, knocked on the door while Heard was screaming for help, but Hampton still wouldn't let her leave, so she jumped out of the window, the report said.
Duncan told police Heard yelled, "Help, help, help get me out of here."
Heard was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
Property records show Hampton's apartment is in a two-story building, but it is unclear which floor he lived on.
Hampton is in the Orange County Jail on charges of false imprisonment and simple battery.
His bail is set at $3,100.
