A walk-off wild pitch gave UCF baseball a doubleheader sweep over No. 9 Louisville on Thursday evening.
The pair of wins gave the Knights a 3.5-game lead atop the American Athletic Conference. UCF defeated the Cardinals, 8-2, in the first game on the day, with senior pitcher Eric Skoglund dominating again with seven strikeouts over 8 2/3 innings.
The top two teams in the American needed extra innings to decide the second game, but a wild pitch scored Dylan Moore to lift UCF (25-15, 12-2 AAC) to the 4-3 win.
UCF may have pushed itself onto the national stage and into the rankings with the two wins.
The teams will play the final game of the series at either Friday at 6:30 p.m. or Saturday at 11 a.m., depending on the weather.
