Former Daytona Beach Mainland standout cornerback Ricardo Allen, now an All-Big Ten performer at Purdue, is only a junior, but he's already listed as one of the top five corners for the 2013 NFL Draft in a recent story at the National Football Post.
Allen was at it again this past Saturday in Purdue's 51-41 win at Marshall, making his seventh career interception and racing 39 yards for a touchdown, giving him a Boilermakers' record four pick-sixes in his first three seasons.
Allen has started every game at Purdue since he arrived in West Lafayette, Ind, in 2010. The NCAA Division I-A career record for interception returns for a touchdown is five.
Fellow Purdue player and a former Mainland teammate of Allen's, O.J. Ross, is also having great success. Ross is the Boilermakers' leading recieiver through four games this year with 27 catches for 236 yards.
Central Florida has two sophomores respresenting on the Purdue roster in ex-New Smyrna Beach speedster Raheem Mostert, who has eight kickoff returns for an average of 22.6 yards per return, and former Lake Mary standout safety Taylor Richards, who is in the top 10 for the Boilermakers in tackles with eight. Richards also got the first sack he has ever had in his entire life as a football player earlier this season.
