Dr. Phillips rising sophomore linebacker Jonathan Pollock worked out at the University of Memphis on Wednesday and he impressed coaches so much that he had a scholarship offer by Thursday morning.
Pollock said linebackers coach Galen Scott offered the 6-foot, 193-pound Pollock, who played mostly special teams as a freshman at DP this past season, making 13 tackles.
"I camped at Memphis and it went great," Pollock said. "I loved the coaches, especially Coach Scott. I spoke with Coach Scott this morning and he said Coach Fuentes [head coach Justin Fuentes] says I have an offer at Memphis from their meeting this morning."
Memphis is his second Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) scholarship offer. Akron pulled the trigger on the 2016 standout in March.
"I'm very blessed," Pollock said. "I just feel honored to be getting [offers] this early and I owe everything I'm getting to the coaching staff at DP."
Pollock and his father are on a recruiting road trip that will take them to Ole Miss and Mississippi State today and Friday.
He is one of four Dr. Phillips players with FBS offers. Rising seniors WR Roderick Proctor, ATH Deionte Gaines and S Davin Pierce are the others.
Proctor, ranked No. 6 in the Senitnel's 2014 Central Florida Super60, has offers from Arizona, Iowa State, Bowling Green and South Alabama.
Gaines, ranked No. 13, has offers from Arizona, Iowa State, Cincinnati, Appalachian State, South Alabama and Western Michigan.
Pierce, ranked No. 25, has offers from Louisville, West Virginia, Appalachian State, South Alabama and Western Michigan.
