'Dining in the Dark' volunteers
The fifth annual event "Dining in the Dark" planned for April 24 at Lake Receptions, 4425 N. County Road 19A, Mount Dora, is seeking volunteers to serve on the planning committee to help with the silent auction, sponsorships, marketing, ticket sales and other logistical tasks.
The committee will meet monthly and then more frequently closer to the event.
"Dining in the Dark" is a sensory-awareness experience that will take guests on a journey of taste, sound, smell and touch, all in the dark.
The event is designed to create awareness about the challenges of being blind and to raise funds for New Vision for Independence, a nonprofit that provides assistance and training for blind and visually impaired adults in Lake and Sumter counties.
The lights will be turned off during dinner. Volunteers from the Lake County Sheriff's Office's SWAT team will serve the meal.
New Vision's goal is to raise $20,000.

All makes of cars, trucks and vans are welcome. Cash prizes are awarded.
The event takes place the fourth Saturday of each month.
