In a school filled with running tradition, this year could go down as one of the best for Winter Park’s girls cross country team.
The Wildcats remained at No. 1 in the 4A Florida Athletic Coaches Association/flrunners.com poll released Wednesday.
Their three top runners, Katherine Kuhn (18 minutes, 32 seconds), Emily Nix (18:35) and Charlotte Stephens (18:44) own the second, third and fifth fastest times in school history at the 5K (3.1-mile) distance. No. 1 is UF runner Shelby Hayes and No. 4 is University of Southern California runner Kira Soderstrom.
The Wildcats run in the Metro East Conference meet at 8 a.m. Saturday at Lake Nona High School.
