Kissimmee Osceola, asked to host the FHSAA Flag Football championships in less than a week, got a great review from Harvard Jones, assistant director of flag football.
“I am very grateful to Osceola High School for doing such a good job hosting the event with so little time to put it together,” Jones said in an email with the Sentinel. “The flag football finals in Kissimmee were excellent.”
The tournament was moved from Tallahassee to Kissimmee a week ago because graduation at FSU left a shortage of hotel rooms. Flag football will return to Tallahassee next year, but Jones said the season will be moved back a week to avoid the conflict.
Loxahatchee Seminole Ridge won the state championship and recorded its first undefeated season (19-0) by beating previously unbeaten Jacksonville Mandarin (18-1) 27-6 in Saturday night's final. Mandarin knocked off Dr. Phillips in Saturday morning's semifinal 19-13.
