After playing in the Futures Game on Sunday in New York, former Montverde Academy shortstop Francisco Lindor will face a new challenge.
Lindor, who batted .306 with 100 hits, 51 runs and 20 stolen bases in 83 games for the Class A Carolina Mudcats, was promoted to the Class AA Akron Aeros for the first time.
A first-round selection by the Cleveland Indians in the 2011 draft, Lindor will not turn 20 years old until Nov. 14. He is considered one of baseball's top prospects.
Lindor hit into a double play in his only plate appearance during the Futures Game for the World Futures, who lost 4-2 to the U.S. Futures. Former Oviedo High RHP A.J. Cole, a Washington Nationals prospect, got the save with a scoreless inning.
