Former Apopka pitcher T.J. Renda has solidified himself as the top arm in Alabama State's rotation.

Renda went 4-5 with a 4.04 ERA last year as a freshman and entered the season as the No. 2 pitcher on the staff but an injury to ace Joel Alvira propelled him into the top role and he has responed well.

The sophomore leads the Southwestern Athletic Conference in more than a dozen pitching categories including wins (8-0), ERA (1.51) and strikeouts (72).

The Hornets begin at three-game series at Arizona tonight at 8 p.m.
