The CW says that Orlando's WKCF-Channel 18 sets the pace for the network's more than 200 affiliates across the country.

The network last week saluted the Central Florida station with the Apex Award for Model Affiliate of the year. WKCF collected the honor May 15 at an affiliate dinner at the St. Regis Hotel in New York.

It was the second time in four years that WKCF has won the prize.

WKCF General Manager Jim Carter called the CW's recognition truly gratifying.

"Everyone at our station works hard throughout the year to maintain the highest quality product and to be the best possible partner to The CW," he said. Carter is also general manager of sister station WESH-Channel 2, an NBC affiliate.

The CW's series, such as "Arrow" and "The Vampire Diaries," connect with many young viewers in Central Florida. WKCF also offers local news (from WESH) and a strong lineup of syndicated comedies.
