Hutsell had one of his most productive nights of the season, going 18-of-20 for 169 yards and four touchdowns, but the efforts of WR Denard Lucas and DB Joe Martinson were just as impressive.
And Martinson (5-11, 180) is surely going to be a name to watch as recruiting heats up for the Class of 2011. He had four interceptions Friday, returning two for scores from (90 and 46 yards).
Zach McCarrell keeps puttin up big numbers for LHP
Lake Highland senior Zach McCarrell (6-0, 195, No. 50 on CF 100) continues to make the best of his first injury-free season.
The Highlanders running back already has posted multiple 200-yard rushing games and added another gem in their 38-15 win over Mulberry. McCarrell had just 11 carries, but ran for 161 yards and two touchdowns.
McCarrells speed and scoring ability is undeniable on the offensive side of the ball, but his all-go style on defense (plays safety) is equally impressive and again was on display Friday.
Little man Jalen Singleton continues to play big
Bishop Moore RB Jalen Singleton (5-3, 155 and No. 77 on CF 100) had another big night as the Hornets blew past Frostproof 35-12.
Singleton has found the recruiting trail rough with only offers from Division II and III schools so far, but that could change if he continues to post numbers like he did Friday.
Singleton showed his stamina carrying the ball 30 times for 169 yards and three touchdowns in the victory. Now with 954 yards and 11 scores on the season, he has a chance to at least equal his rushing 1,400 yards and 19 touchdowns from a year ago.
His teammate Tyler Floyd also had a good night running with 88 yards and two TDs on 16 carries.
Other notable performances
Olympia QB Trevor Siemian (Northwestern oral commitment No. 9 on CF 100) didnt have his best night against district rival Ocoee, but it was enough for the Titans to secure a 35-18 win. Without starting running back Jarius Pace behind him in the backfield, Siemian rushed at times and threw two interceptions, but finished 19-of-29 for 212 yards and a touchdown. He also had a rushing score. ... Winter Park junior QB Sam Richardson (6-2, 180 and No. 14 on CF Top 100 for 2011) completed 10-of-11 passes threw for four touchdowns as the Wildcats bounced back from their loss to Edgewater last week with a win over University. ... Apopka junior RB Tom Smith (6-1, 195 and No. 12 on CF Top 100 for 2011) ran for two touchdowns and caught two more in the Blue Darters 56-14 rout of East Ridge. He had 18 rushes for 133 yards.
