In Footloose — not the Kevin Bacon film from the '80s, but rather the Broadway adaptation that opened in 1998 — Ren and his mom head to some god-foresaken little town, looking for a new start. It's cool and all, until Ren discovers (gasp!) the town's full of anti-dancing zealots. Of course, the reverend, who's leading the charge against grooving out, has a hot daughter (played by Hartt School grad Zoe Kassay, pictured), and that complicates everything for poor happy-footed Ren. The show opens at Ivoryton Playhouse on Wednesday.
July 3-28, $15-$40, Ivoryton Playhouse, 103 Main St., Ivoryton, (860) 767-7318, ivorytonplayhouse.org.
