New Haven's underground celebration of all things DIY and counter-culture that runs parallel to the city's International Festival of Arts & Ideas, known as Ideat Village, returns once again for its 12th incarnation. 2012's festival features the return of Ideat Village staples: Orbit Gallery, operating out of 118 Court St., is a two-week display of anything-goes art in any media imagineable, absolutely free and uncensored (June 16-July 1; receptions on June 16, 8 p.m. and June 30, 9 p.m.); Project Walkway, a take on "Project Runway," where participants create fashions out of stuff often considered unwearable elsewhere (June 20, 7-10 p.m., 118 Court St.); the Rock Lottery, where local musicians opt to be chosen at random to form supergroups, who must perform at the mercy of the two weeks of practice they're allowed (Rock Lottery drawing: June 9 at Cafe Nine, 250 State St.; Rock Lottery performance: June 23 at Cafe Nine); and the Short Film Fest, where local filmmakers display their talents for all to see (June 29, 9 p.m., 118 Court St.). Keep up with the entire two-week schedule at
