1st) Take the Cake

Take the Cake would prefer that you not order your wedding cake over the phone. Once you come into the shop to experience their hands-on approach, you’ll understand why. “We want them to taste things, to be able to feel and smell, and we pack them samples to take home,” explains Pastry Chef Kimberly Langella. The benefits go beyond the tasting and tactile. “We also try to match the cake aesthetic to the rest of the wedding decorations,” Langella says. “Some people bring invitations so we can understand what theme they’re going for, and we’ll decorate according to the same color scheme and design.” And unlike most cake shops, Take the Cake skips the fondant altogether. “We don’t use it at all because it’s artificial. Our cakes are all-natural. We think it looks much better with fresh flowers than fondant and glue. And it definitely tastes better.”
