A woman who loves shoes, it’s a cliché. My obsession is no different but I would like to think my shopping habits are. I don’t buy a pair of shoes unless I LOVE them. I'm talking, walk away and continue to think about them like a 13-year-old day dreams about Justin Beiber.
A few years ago a local charity asked me to participate in a shoe guessing competition. Here is how it worked, people made a donation to said charity to guess how many shoes me and other local 'celebrities' (I didn't come up with that term) owned. The person who guessed the closest won a prize and the charity kept the donations, win-win. Not one person guessed the number of shoes I own correctly, not even close.
Because I’m a clothes horse, most assume I must have a closet full of heels, flats and boots. Hey! We all have a budget! The trick is you don't have to own a lot of shoes; you only need a handful of heels, flats or boots that are quality and will grab people's attention (and yours). It's kind of like ‘smoke and mirrors' but it works and saves me a lot of money. I wear every pair in my closet, if I go a season without wearing them, I donate them to Goodwill. And if you aren’t inclined to drop a bunch of money on shoes make sure you know a good shoe cobbler (they still exist) I use a gentleman on East Central who has saved my favorite winter boots at least twice. Because let's be real, my feet are always hiding under an anchor desk.
I've included a photo of my latest favorite pair. Aren't they practical? Who is your favorite shoe designer?
